Just like a legend

I will remember last Saturday until the day I die. When I first got to the Hop Farm Festival I was pretty sure I wouldn't ever forget that day, but not for good reasons. Finally the moment had come: Bob Dylan, live. It was thanks to his songs that I left tasteless music behind, but people had recommended me not to have expectations, not to expect the Seventies Dylan, not to expect anything apart from the decadence of an old legend. So did they say about Pete Doherty. He was good too. Everyone was quite calm and when it was Dylan turn, right after the frontman of The Kinks finished, people went crazy. No room to breath in an outdoors venue. how crazy is that? But all the shoves and the steps on my foot were totally worth it, especially considering that I was in the third row. Even if the times of glory are gone for him, he still has an amazing energy for a 68-year-old who is on a never ending tour since 1988.

Dylan is a true original - musical talent, style with brains - he's got it all - and, judging from his youthful energy, sounds like he's got good genes too. Hope your toes are better now.

Well, I believe todays Dylan is as good as Seventies Dylan. He changed style, like he did many times since the electric tour of 1966. He continues reinterpreting his songs, changing the music and the lyrics, and he plays his new songs, among which there are a numbers of good ones as in the old records. Just think of Thunder on the mountain or It's not dark yet, they are no worse than Just like a woman or Tangled up in blue. My thought is that you don't need to be in your twenties to be a good performer. Of course Dylan's voice is not as strong as in old times, but his music evolved accordingly. People criticizing his current performances just don't get the continuing research, but I think Dylan doesn't care much of these critics. Don't look back...
